Updated: 2024-02-02 10:02

Shenzhen Metro Group will extend service by one to two and a half hours on nine days during the Spring Festival travel rush period, from Sunday to Wednesday and Feb. 15 to 19.

The revised schedule includes the first train departing at about 6:10 a.m. and the last train operating until midnight or later. Shenzhen North Station will further extend service by an additional hour Feb. 16 and Feb. 17. The final trains for lines 4, 5, and 6 will depart no earlier than 2 a.m. to cater to the needs of passengers returning home on these two days.

Some lines that connect with high-speed railway stations, checkpoints, and the airport, such as lines 1, 3, 5, 6, 11, 14, and Line 6's spur line, will extend service by one to two and a half hours for seven days post-festival, spanning from Feb. 20 to 26.

Luohu Station on Metro Line 1 will extend its service until 2 a.m. Feb. 9, the Chinese New Year's Eve, and Feb. 11 in the direction of Qianhaiwan Station. The last train from Qianhaiwan Station to Luohu will depart at 1:10 a.m.

During the holiday period, Line 1's section from Airport East Station to Qianhaiwan Station will be temporarily suspended from Feb. 10 to 13 for renovation and upgrading. From Feb. 14 to 17, Line 1's section from Airport East Station to Xixiang Station will be halted.

Furthermore, Line 12's section from Huangtian Station to Airport East Station will adopt a "two-way running on the single track" operation mode, with train departure intervals expanded to 22-30 minutes from Feb. 3 to 17.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint will provide 24-hour service from Feb. 9 to 13 during the Spring Festival holiday, as announced by the Shenzhen Office of Port of Entry and Exit.

Luohu Checkpoint's opening hours will also be extended until 2 a.m. Feb. 9, the Chinese New Year's Eve, and Feb. 11, the second day of the first month of the Chinese New Year, according to the notice.

In another development, passengers taking domestic flights at Shenzhen airport no longer need to present their ID cards and boarding passes. Instead, they only need to register and apply for a "flight code." This is a new and convenient smart service introduced by Shenzhen airport during this year's Spring Festival travel rush.
